EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2001

The following policy has been submitted and approved by the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union's Board of Directors and will comply with the Regulatory Requirements of NCUA.

The New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union is owned by its members and run by a Board of Directors the members elect.  Our members can be confident that their financial privacy is a top priority of this credit union.  The New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union is required by law to establish this privacy policy, which explains how the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union collects, uses and safeguards members' personal financial information.  If our members have any questions, please contact a member service representative at 203-624-7170.

The New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union is committed to providing our members with competitive products and services to meet their financial needs, which necessitates that we share information about our members to complete their transactions and provide our members with certain financial opportunities.  In order to do so, the New haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union has entered into agreements with other companies that provides wither services to the credit union or addition financial products for our members to consider.

Under these arrangements, the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union may disclose all of the information the New Haven Postal Employees

Federal Credit Union collects, as described below, to companies that perform marketing or other services on behalf of the credit union or to other financial institutions with whom the credit union has joint marketing agreements.  To protect our members' privacy, the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union works with companies that agree to maintain strong confidentiality protection and limit the use of information we provide.  The New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union does not permit these companies to sell to other third parties the information the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union provides to them.

Information the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union Collects and Discloses About Our Members

The New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union collects the following nonpublic personal information about our members from a variety of sources and may disclose all the information we collect to companies that perform marketing services on behalf of the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union or to other financial institutions with whom the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union has a joint marketing agreement.

  • From membership and loan applications and other forms, the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union obtains information such as name, address, Social Security number and income.

  • From the members transactions with the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union or other companies that work closely with us to provide members with financial products and services, the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union obtains information such as our members' account balances, payment history, parties to transactions and credit card usage.

  • From consumer-reporting agencies, the New Haven Postal Employees Credit Union obtains information such as our members' creditworthiness and credit history.

  • From verification of information our members provide on applications and other forms, the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union obtains information from current or past employers, other financial institutions and other sources listed on the application.

The New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union may also disclose information about our members under other circumstances as permitted or required by law.  These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on our members' behalf, conduct the operations of our credit union, follow our members' instructions as our members authorize, or protect the security of the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union financial records.

If our members terminate their membership with the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union, the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union will not share information we have collected about them, except as permitted or required by law.

How the New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union Protects Information

The New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union restricts access to nonpublic personal information about our members to those employees who have a specific business purpose in utilizing our members' data.  The New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union employees are trained in the importance of maintaining confidentiality and our members' privacy.  The New Haven Postal Employees Federal Credit Union maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations and leading industry practices to safeguard our members' nonpublic personal information.
